Text Box: The hospice industry and its services are frequently misunderstood.  We at Hospice of Hope offer educational programs, public information and to conduct awareness events to heighten the knowledge of our services and the impact it has on the community.  Over the next few months I will be sharing with you some of the most frequently asked questions.        

 

 

How do patients get enrolled in hospice?

Anyone can make a referral to Hospice of Hope by simply calling us directly.  That can be the patient, a spouse or family member, or a healthcare provider.  Once a referral is made, the patient’s primary doctor is always contacted to ensure they agree with the patient’s appropriateness.  If the patient wishes to continue, hospice benefits may begin.

 

Who pays for hospice?

Hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and may private insurances.  Hospice of Hope is a non-profit organization, and no patient that is medically and emotionally appropriate is ever turned away because of inability to pay.
