State Hospice Champion Award given to
Senator Charlie Borders

Senator Charlie Borders was honored at the recent
Kentucky Association of Hospice and Palliative Care (KAHPC) Annual
Conference. At this conference, Senator Borders received the Hospice
Champion Award for his long and continued support of hospice care
throughout the Commonwealth. The Hospice Champion Award is presented
annually to someone that has made a positive and significant impact on
hospice care and the services provided by local hospice organizations.
Senator Borders has always been an advocate of hospice care and during the 2006 legislative session was the lead sponsor of SB 166, a bill that passed both legislative chambers and was signed in to law on April 6, 2006. SB 166 allows automated pharmacy services for hospice in-patient facilities. Kavin Cartmell, Executive Director of Hospice of Hope stated. “Senator Borders has been a great asset to national and state initiatives for Hospice care. His dedication and attention to the needs of with terminal illnesses has not gone unnoticed”. Senator Borders, a Republican, represents District 18 that covers the counties of Carter, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Robertson and Bracken. He has served in the Senate since 1991 and currently holds the Senate position of Majority Caucus Chair. |
