Alzheimer’s Caregiver Seminar a Success
 

Hope HomeCare and Buffalo Trace Area Development District conducted a caregiver seminar on September 23rd that illustrated ways to better care for those with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia.  This seminar was designed to provide practical information that will assist caregivers with day-to-day care for people affected by these diseases. 

Speakers included Melina Frame from Ohio Valley Manor who discussed their Alzheimer’s Unit. From the Mason County Sheriff’s department were Sheriff Tony Wenz and Deputy Terry Fryman who gave an overview of their Project Lifesaver initiative. The keynote was public speaker Linda Vogelpohl who discussed ways to better care for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Nearly 60 caregivers attended the seminar with very positive comments.  Venders were on hand to promote their services.  Vendors included: Attorney General’s Office, Bracken County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Buffalo Trace District Health Department, Buffalo Trace Elder Abuse Council, Comprehend, Inc., Fleming County Hospital, Hayswood Home Health, Legal Aid of the Bluegrass, Licking Valley CAP, Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pioneer Trace, Social Security Administration, Vanceburg Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, YMCA, Hospice of Hope and Buffalo Trace Area Development District.
