Crochet Students
at Russellville’s Rambler Center Provide Support to Hospice of Hope – Ohio
Valley
Every Friday Mary Kelch of Bethel donates her time to teach others the techniques of crocheting and knitting. Each week she will instruct or mentor 25-35 students ranging in ages from 28 to 80 years old. Student can bring in their own projects or come to the class to get ideas from others.
“My donated time is well spent when others share the same passion as I do when learning to crochet or knit. This class is for beginners or for those who just want to have the companionship of others”, said Kelch.
This course is made possible by the Rambler Center in Russellville who provides the location for the class. Most of the yard used has been donated and well as the patterns and other tools of the trade. There is no fee for this class however contributions are always welcomed.
The class has three community wide objectives that include 1) a community craft show, 2) "Caps for Kids" project and 3) crocheted snowflakes for Hospice of Hope-Ohio Valley. Recently Hospice of Hope-Ohio Valley was presented with snowflakes that were handed out at their yearly Hope for the Holidays.
Michael Parker, Directory of
Development and PR at Hospice of Hope stated, “We are thankful to have such
support in our community. The snowflakes represent a part of our community
and where well recode at our recent event”.
