MEDICARE PART D- Prescription Benefit Informational
 

 

On Thursday, November 3rd, Hope HomeCare, Buffalo Trace ADD, and Maysville Social Security Administration sponsored informational sessions on the new Medicare Part D prescription benefit program. 

Beginning January 1, 2006, a new comprehensive Medicare Drug Benefit Plan called Part D will be available for those currently enrolled in Medicare.  This program will replace the current Prescription Drug Benefit Card.  Extra financial help will be available for people with low incomes and limited assets through social security.

-Visit www.medicare.gov on the web
 

-Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048. Have your Medicare card, a list of drugs you use, and the name of the pharmacy you use ready when you call.
 

-Get a free copy of the booklet "Your Guide to Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage" which is available on the website or by calling the 800 number.
 

-Call your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) at 1-800-274-5863 or (606) 784-8921.
 

-Check for local events for help enrolling. Contact your local office on aging at 606-564-6894 (Buffalo Trace Area Agency on Aging).
